This one hurts

This one hurts. It’s been hurting and I predict it will for a long time In 2000,  I lived through Bush v. Gore, and almost lost some friends over that one. Then Bush started two wars, and I was so devastated when Kerry conceded in 2004, I spontaneously burst into tears. It hurt, but the feeling that the country had let me down was a deep and pervasive emotion that underscored the pain.

Then, there was Obama and Hope and Change. We thought perhaps the country had reached a turning point. That after Obama, there was no way it could even be a CLOSE decision to elect a misogynistic, known serial predator and a lying, bullying narcissist like Donald J. Trump.

Yet here we are. It’s a feeling of disbelief each day like waking to a bad dream. The Media has fallen in line, like the lemmings they are, as they follow the GOP sheep who are being herded into the false normalcy of Trump-mania. But the good news is that the loyal opposition doesn’t have to fall in line. We can call out the fact that the Emperor has no clothes.

One way to work through the pain and grief has been to write to Mrs. Clinton. I would ask all my fellow Democratic friends who voted for this remarkable woman to write and tell her that she is still one of the leaders of the Democratic Party. And visit her website to check out all of the ambitious and forward-leaning, visionary plans she had to lead us forward into the 21st Century with vision and strength of character.

And then, remember what Ted Kennedy said at the Democratic Convention when our party was in the wilderness. He said, “The Dream shall never Die.” It was the dream of Martin Luther King, the vision of JFK, it was the visionary thinking of FDR, it was the courage of Hillary Clinton and so many women before her, and it is the message of hope and change that lies with our inspirational President, Barack Obama.

Take heart and take the advice of Michelle Obama: Whey they go low, we go high! We can continue to be inspired by the message of hope and change, and the vision that we have for a better tomorrow. We feel that America’s best days are ahead of us, and that we will make America Proud Again, Strong Again, Whole Again, and Together Again. That is the message we need to deliver to the American People. Stay strong and remember to never stop fighting for that Dream.

The Fifth Risk: A Chillingly Prophetic Narrative for our Time

For those who have never read this book, ,”The Fifth Risk” is a chillingly prophetic narrative that perfectly embodies the reasoning and set of circumstances that have led us to this point in the pandemic. Not only is there no plan for getting us out of the Pandemic-at least from the Trump Administration- there is instead a decisive narrative which Lewis lays out that allows you to understand why there is a pattern to the idea of simply ‘dropping off the cliff.’   The plan from the beginning, long before the Trump Administration even began to take power, was to break down the walls of governance that had surrounded the Washington agencies for decades prior. Of course, many of Trump’s supporters argue: That is the point! Steve Bannon proudly declared that government would be ‘de-constructed.’ And even those who ended up disagreeing with Trump heavily, such as John Kelly and Rex Tillerson, did help implement the policies that were laid out in the beginning of Trump’s tenur...

Hillary and the Man in the Arena

From the standpoint of one who voted for and endorsed Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton, there seems to be a question hanging in the air. How could someone who opposed the Clintonian dynasty support Hillary’s bid for the Presidency? Isn’t it a bit hypocritical? Or at least inconsistent with the view previously taken? This is true for many supporters of Obama. Some on the left cannot support her bid for President. They see many of her acknowledged flaws and conclude she cannot be a viable option. My view comes from watching her over the course of the past eight years, four as the Secretary of State within this Administration. And having watched the two debate in 2008- Obama vs. Hillary- there can be little question that the divide that separates them on most issues is a small one. Theirs is a centrist left view of the world. On Foreign Policy, I daresay that Hillary would never have worked for Obama had she held wildly opposing views from his own world view. But the...

The Herculean Task of the Democratic House in 2019

Nancy Pelosi has finally said something about what Dems will do when and if they take control of the House. The laundry list should begin to get awfully long by now. The Ethics concerns should have begun to pile up from Day One of the Trump Presidency. At present, there is no mechanism of checks and balances on the insider trading, the cronyism, the government waste, fraud and abuse, the corruption and flagrant spending of taxpayer money for personal expenses within this corrupt administration. Steve Schmidt, former Republican strategist, is correct in saying the Democrats should have been better at hammering home this message. And frankly, the Dems have never been good at messaging and they aren’t getting any better now. But the Trump Administration is so bad, so corrupt and over-reaching, that they may win in spite of themselves. The list should include: ·          Hearings on ALL Trump Administration officials to restor...
