Top 5 Under the Radar Stories

Here's another installment of our popular Under the Radar series. Check out the new "Under the Radar" online magazine to read even more stories that may have been under-reported.   1)       Surging Foreign Arm Sales:   Sales surged 36% in 2015 and are set to remain strong in the coming years. ISIS has fueled demand among our allies for US missile defense equipment, helicopters and munitions. 10 years ago, the focus was on fighter jets. Europe, the Pacific and even Centcom have provided the demands. The total value of sales in the works is around 500 billion dollars. The Pentagon vets all requests, including those from countries with weak human rights records.   2)       139 Countries get power from Renewables :   There is a blueprint released within the last few years giving details of how all 50 US States may run on renewables by the year 2050.   The plans include wind turbines, solar farms, and hydroelectric dams. The point being that there is a p
Happy Holidays from RS/BS . The candidates are taking a break from the trail, and it’s a good time to take a breather to see what’s going on..       If we only had an Abacus with a slide counter, we’d put the following groups in: 1) Muslim-Americans; 2) African-Americans; 3) Latino & Hispanic Americans; 4) Women; 5) Overweight Americans; 6) Disabled Americans; 7) All other minority groups in America. These are all counters in the category entitled: “ I’m never voting for Donald Trump” (No wonder some sectors of the GOP are in full panic mode at the thought of a Trump Nomination!)       ·       The Climate Summit begins next week in Paris. The United States is making a concerted effort to lead the world in talks to negotiate lower CO2 emissions for all countries. One of the best indicators moving forward is the commitment by US automakers to lower the fuel emissions for all new cars and to produce some electric cars in the US market. 50 Co

Red State/Blue State returns

Red State/Blue State has been on a short hiatus for the past month while we work on re-tooling the look of our blog. We are committed to introducing the latest stories found in the world of politics from both sides of the aisle.   In addition to this, we include some World News and important breaking news stories that affect all of us as a Nation. Stories of police incidents that affect entire communities, Supreme Court cases, and world leaders with political agendas that may potentially affect the Global Village.   Stories on the environment, and policies out of Congress that have far reaching impacts, such as rulings on healthcare, human rights cases, and environmental impact cases, are all part of the Red State/Blue State package of news.   We are always looking for ways to better serve the interests of a public that is inundated with Mass Media at all hours of the day and night. That is why the stories are edited to focus on what is vital to our national and G

Under the Radar

Here at Red State/Blue State , we have been discussing the concept of Under the Radar for a few months now. There is so much news that is simply not being given enough coverage that many important stories seem to go under the radar. In defense of journalists and news organizations, there are many in-depth stories that are simply too long or too in-depth to be covered in the space of a short television news segment or in a small article.  However, the coverage of certain stories that seem to attract media attention are glaring. Donald Trump ad nauseum is good for ratings, but the coverage tends to lower the bar however you look at it. So here are just a few of the stories amassed in a span of a few weeks from some of the articles on Red State/Blue State in Flipboard.  The new magazine, Under the Radar , is going to continue to focus on some of the stories highlighted here, and those that will continue to gain traction, although perhaps not through any of the traditi

Jonny: We Hardly Knew Ye

A former Vice President of the United States, one Richard Cheney, promoted the loosening of restrictions on Iranian sanctions regarding oil immediately before becoming the VP and then subsequently promoting the invasion of Iraq. The Bush Administration hand-picked former Iraqi President Malaki, who had strong Iranian ties and was promoted by the Bush administration to lead Iraq. Iran was subsequently strengthened by the weakening of Iraq…so by Cheney’s own definition, he would be considered a traitor to the interests of his own country! This fact was pointed out by Jon Stewart. Also, Jon Stewart, whose mother was a teacher, made note of the fact that the recent convictions in Atlanta of the teachers who cheated by giving out test answers to students to promote their own interests by boosting the grade results for their schools, was condemned by the Judge. He said their behavior was sickening and the worst thing he had ever heard. Then Stewart went on to remind the

Under the Radar News: Featured stories from Red State/Blue State News Magazine from July

I guess my initial reaction to “Trump-mania” besides the laughter generated from late-night comics, is the phrase, “Meanwhile, back at the ranch…” Because while we are listening to the latest soliloquy from Trump or his rivals, and the pundits argue and shuffle the characters appearing in the first Fox News debate which is months away from the primaries, there are other things happening in the world.   The top 5 articles I picked are all featured in Red State/Blue State News & Politics Magazine from Flipboard. Here they are:   1.       The debate over whether the Iran Deal is comparable to the opening of China 2.       The debate over whether our US Military is spread too thin 3.       20 photos of international borders that tell a tale 4.       A map showing the areas of Drug Cartel influence in Mexico 5.       The Conversations we should be having about US Prisons   Here’s some more information picked out of the Red State/Blue State articl
